Advisor/Volunteer Position Descriptions

All advisors will have direct responsibility over their delegations as well as responsibilities to the overall program and will accept their assigned duties to assure the success of the program.
Capitol Coordinator: Will advise and direct all YIG business in the capitol building.
Committee Advisors: One for each committee, to meet with the assigned committee whenever in session. Committee advisors are to help and advise but not participate in the committee.
Committee Coordinator: One for each legislature, Green, Red and Blue to check the committees whenever in session to see that they are started and that the adult leaders are present. They are to advise and be directly responsible for the area.
Chaplain Advisor: Works with the chaplains in their preparation of material appropriate for the conducting of opening and closing ceremonies at various events.
Red/White Legislature Advisor: Assists session to begin on time, note if all youth leaders and adult leaders are present. Solve any problems that you can (check with directors if necessary). Make sure rules and regulations of the house and senate are followed. Assist presiding officer with procedures and parliamentary procedures.
Blue Legislature Advisor: Coordinates the functioning of the blue legislature and assists students in taking an active role in learning the governmental process. A good working knowledge of parliamentary procedure is necessary.
Middle School Only:
Contemporary Issues Advisor: Works with the leadership of the Contemporary Issues program to assure active participation of all Contemporary Issues students.
Political Compromise Advisor: Assist session to begin on time, note if all youth leaders and adult leaders are present. Solve any problems that you can (check with directors if necessary). Make sure rules and regulations of the program are followed.
High School Only:
Lobbyist Advisor: Coordinates the affairs of the lobbyist between the committees, House and Senate.
Governor’s Cabinet Advisor: Oversees the business and affairs of the governor and his/her cabinet.
Electronic Press Advisor: Works with youth in the production of a daily TV program to be aired on a daily schedule
Written Press Advisor: Works with the youth in the production of a daily newspaper. All newspaper items must be approved by the advisor before publication.
MJP Advisor: Works with the leadership of the MJP program to assure active participation of all MJP students
NIF Specialist: Advises and directs the National Issues Program.
NIF Advisor: Works with the Presiding Officers and committee chairs to insure the sessions run smoothly.
